Kankana Das
Principal Analyst
Kankana Das, MSc in Environmental Science from Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISWBM), is having 15 years of experience in the development sector, focusing on the social and environment governance across India and various African countries. Kankana is currently working with Legal Initiative for Forest and Environment (LIFE) in the capacity of Analyst and heading the East Zone office of LIFE.
She is passionate about environmental conservation and is actively engaged in evidence based advocacy. Her research work involves assessment of policy document and action plans prepared for mitigation of air and water pollution; preparation of policy briefs and position papers on issues focused to mitigate air pollution and energy transition from coal to renewables; position paper on compliance of various Acts and regulations like the Biological Diversity Act, 2002, the Wetlands (Conservation and Management) Rules, 2017, CRZ Notification 2018 etc. Kankana is instrumental in bringing additional perspectives in draft environmental regulations through policy briefs, position papers and advocacy actions. She is having experience in providing trainings to regulatory agencies, civil society organisations and communities at large.

Subhrajit Goswami
Senior Analyst
Subhrajit is a master’s graduate in Environmental Science from Doon University, Dehradun and has done his B.Sc (Hons.) in Botany from Scottish Church College, University of Calcutta. He was associated with Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) Bangalore for 6 months as dissertation trainee, contributing towards the study of long-term invasion dynamics of Lantana camara in the heterogeneous landscape of Western Ghats. He has also interned with the Agricultural and Ecological Research Unit, Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata on Invasion Ecology. He has been associated with LIFE since July 2018. He works on various pollution-related and socio-environmental issues. He also assists in the reviewing the EIA procedure.
