Ritwick Dutta is a founder of LIFE and currently heads the organization as Managing Trustee. He graduated in Sociology and Law from the University of Delhi and has been involved in environmental litigation for the last 15 years. He is presently involved in litigation before the National Green Tribunal, Principle Bench as well as regional benches on subjects related to challenge to Environment and Forest Clearance. He is an Ashoka Fellow and recipient of many prestigious awards.
Rahul Choudhary is also a founder member of LIFE as one of the Trustees. He is in-charge of the Litigation Division. He is a law graduate from Delhi University and has been practicing as a lawyer in the field of environment for the last 17 years. He takes up the issues related to the environment before different forums including National Green Tribunal, High Courts and Supreme Court. He also assists communities in access to information, participation in the decision making process and understanding the implications of developmental projects.
Dr. Rakesh Kr. Singh
Dr. Rakesh Kr. Singh is a Trustee of LIFE and in-charge of Research Division. He has a PhD in Wildlife Sciences from the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun. He is also a Member of the Jharkhand Biodiversity Board and Member, State Expert Appraisal Committee, Bihar and recenlty nominated as a Member of State Board for Wildlife, Ladakh. Dr. Singh is actively involved in research & training related to environmental and wildlife issues for the last 25 years and worked with many other reputed organizations like WWF-India, CMFR, IIT (ISM) and IIT (BHU).
Amar Singh Bisht
Amar Bisht is an Accounts/ Finance Officer and has done MBA in Finance from Swami Vivekanan Subharti University Meerut. He is also in-charge for all statutory compliance related to financial matters. He handles coordination with donors, preparing a donor wise budget & preparing a utilization statement as per requirement. He prepares an annual budget and schedules expenditures. He is responsible for smooth execution of audits by Indian statutory auditors; FCRA audit and donor audit (as applicable) including timely and appropriate action on observations/recommendations.
Ankit is a commerce graduate, now in the creative field by choice. He has more than 4 years of experience in Digital Marketing and Video Productions and has worked with startups as Digital Marketing Strategist and Digital Marketing Agencies & production houses as Creative Video Editor. He has also worked for think tank CCS and NISA as an independent consultant for social media and production. Here it LIFE he is responsible for Designing, Web Development and Video Production. Kankana has eleven years of experience in the development sector, focusing on the social and environment sector in rural and urban India and various African countries. She completed her Master’s in Environmental Science from Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISWBM) in 2006.
in LIFE, Kankana heads the East Zone office, engaged in giving support to local
communities by capacity building, providing them with legal and technical
support, and litigation. She is engaged in networking with NGOs/CSOs working at
the grassroots and with regulatory agencies. She is coordinating a national
level project on air pollution that includes community-level awareness
campaigns as well as research work..
Kaustav completed B.A.LLB from Calcutta University in 2017 and pursued LL.M on Criminology from KIIT Deemed to be University. His area of research was Green Criminology emerging as a distinct category of crime. Afterwards, was appointed as a Field Investigator for Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Impactful Policy Research in Social Science (IMPRESS) Project on “Policing a Smart City: Challenges and Priorities towards Urban Transformation of Kolkata and Bhubaneswar”. Thereafter, was appointed as a Legal Researcher at the National Green Tribunal, Principal Bench and researched on major environmental matters like rejuvenation of rivers, Gujarat Blast Case, Kerala Elephant Case, 102 non-attainment cities, ban on firecrackers, etc. Joined LIFE as a Legal Researcher.
Saurabh Sharma graduated in History and Law from the University of Delhi. Since 1999, practiced in Civil and Criminal Law and later took up cases for prosecuting wildlife offenders and also worked as a trainer in Wildlife Law.
Soban Singh Rawat
Soban Singh Rawat is a Field Data Collection staff. He graduated in arts from CSS University, Meerut.
Subhrajit is a master’s graduate in Environmental Science from Doon University, Dehradun and has done his B.Sc (Hons.) in Botany from Scottish Church College, University of Calcutta. He was associated with Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) Bangalore for 6 months as dissertation trainee, contributing towards the study of long-term invasion dynamics of Lantana camara in the heterogeneous landscape of Western Ghats. He has also interned with the Agricultural and Ecological Research Unit, Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata on Invasion Ecology. He has been associated with LIFE since July 2018. He works on various pollution-related and socio-environmental issues. He also assists in the reviewing the EIA procedure.
Swati Dasgupta is a Manager-Human Resource with LIFE. She has done her Masters in Human Resource and bachelor from Jamia Hamdard University. She has 5 years of working experience before joining LIFE. She is currently taking care of all the policies and procedures related to the organization and staff benefit/s. She makes sure to match the position with the people efficiently.
Tanvi Sharma is an Associate Analyst (Research) with LIFE. She pursued her masters in Biodiversity & Conservation from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi and bachelors in Life Science from University of Delhi. She has prior working experiences as a Remote Sensing (RS) and GIS based researcher with World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)-India and Vasudha Foundation. At LIFE, her research broadly focuses on reviewing policies and clearance procedures related to Environmental Clearances, Forest Clearances and Wildlife Clearances in India. She also provides RS and GIS based analytical assistance under research projects and litigation.
