Vacancies at Legal Initiative for Forest &Environment (LIFE)

Legal Initiative for Forest and Environment (LIFE) is a New Delhi based organization with zonal offices at Kolkata and Pune focusing on environmental law and advocacy by partnering with organization across the world. It hosts the EIA Response Centre (ERC) as well as The Access Initiative - South Asia Secretariat (TAI). We are looking for young, dynamic and passionate individuals with experience of 3- 4 years in the field of environment to join our team. We are hiring Analyst /Associate Analyst for our three key areas of Air, Water and GIS-RS

1. Analyst/Associate Analyst(Water)

Qualification, Experience & Skills

  • Postgraduate degree in Environmental Science/s or related discipline with at least 2-3 years of working experience on water pollution issues.
  • Strong numerical data analytical skill and familiarity with the creation and maintenance of databases.
  • Candidate having a PhD degree or specific knowledge/experience on hydrology/waste water treatment plant/pollutant dispersal modelling will be preferred
  • Excellent communication skills both written and spokenin English with analytical attitude.
  • Passion for environment conservation is must.

Broad Responsibilities

  • Critically analyzing EIA reports on water related parameters.
  • Carry out ground truthing and field investigation related to any upcoming projects.
  • Prepare policy and technical research publications.
  • Prepare reports for the teams and key donors.

2. Analyst/Associate Analyst (Air)

Qualification, Experience & Skills

  • Postgraduate degree in Environmental Science/s or related discipline with at least 2-3 years of working experience on air pollution issues.
  • Strong numerical data analytical skill and familiarity with the creation and maintenance of databases.
  • Candidate having a PhD degree or specific knowledge/experience on air modelling/pollution control device/meteorological data analysis will be preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and spokenin English with analytical attitude.
  • Passion for environment conservation is must.

Broad Responsibilities

  • Ensure delivery of key targets and play a leading role in meeting the organizational need on Remote Sensing and GIS related work.
  • Develop a road map for developing in-house capacity on Remote Sensing and GIS related work.
  • Train internal staff and stake holder on basic use of Remote Sensing and GIS in environmental conservation.
  • Create and maintain repository of maps and GIS output.
  • Prepare reports as per need of the organization/donors.
