Ritwick Dutta is a founder of LIFE and currently heading the organization as Managing Trustee. He graduated in Sociology and Law from the University of Delhi and has been involved in environmental litigation for the last 15 years. He is presently involved in litigation before the National Green Tribunal, Principle Bench as well as regional benches on subjects related to challenge to Environment and Forest Clearance. He is an Ashoka Fellow and recipient of many prestigious awards.
Rahul Choudhary is also a founder member of LIFE as one of the Trustees. He is in-charge of Litigation Division. He is a law graduate from Delhi University and is practicing as a lawyer in the field of environment for last seventeen years. He takes up the issues related to the environment before different forums including National Green Tribunal, High Courts and Supreme Court. He also assists communities in access to information, participation in the decision making process and understanding the implications of developmental projects.
Dr. Rakesh Kr. Singh is a Trustee of LIFE and in-charge of Research Division. He has done Doctorate of Philosophy in Wildlife Sciences from the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun after completion of his Masters in Environmental Science and Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Safety Management.
Currently, he is also a Member of the Jharkhand Biodiversity Board and Member, State Expert Appraisal Committee, Bihar. Dr. Singh is actively involved in research & training related to environmental and wildlife issues for last 25 years and worked with many other reputed organizations like WWF-India, CMFR, IIT (ISM) and IIT (BHU).
Pushp Jain is a Chief Analyst and heading EIA Resource and Response Centre (ERC). He is science graduate from Delhi University and has been closely associated with protection of environment, forest and wildlife for more than 35 years
Saurabh Sharma is working as an Associate Analyst (Legal) with LIFE. He graduated in History and Law from the University of Delhi. Since 1999, practiced in Civil and Criminal Law and later took up cases for prosecuting wildlife offenders and also worked as a trainer in Wildlife Law. He has also taken up Environmental cases while associated with LIFE. In December 2015 joined LIFE as a Litigator and has been drafting and appearing in cases related to Environmental Pollution especially those related to Coal-Fired Power Plants, Coal Mines, and Coal Washeries before National Green Tribunal.
Meera Gopal graduated from the National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi in 2015. She joined LIFE as an intern in December 2015. She’s now an Associate Analyst (Legal), with about three years of experience of environmental litigation covering several critical issues in India. Some of them include- heavily polluting ship breaking industry in Alang, Gujarat;the ill-conceived project of interlinking of rivers and inland waterways; climate change; marine pollution;urban issues including waste mismanagement. She has been appointed as Amicus Curiae in two cases by the National Green Tribunal and has also been appointed several times as a Court Commissioner to report to the Court on various issues.
Kankana Das has done her Masters in Environmental Science from Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISWBM) in the year 2006 and have now gathered eleven years of working experience in the development sector, focusing on the social and environment sector in rural and urban India and various African countries.
As Analyst in LIFE, Kankana is heading the East Zone office of LIFE, which is engaged in giving support to local communities by capacity building and by providing them with legal and technical support and by fighting their cause at National Green Tribunal. Kankana is also engaged in networking with various NGOs/CSOs working at the grassroots level and with the regulatory agency to take up the work of LIFE at a different platform. Kankana is also coordinating a national level project on air pollution, as part of which she is engaged in various community-level awareness campaigns and research works on various issues spreading across India.
Mridhu Tandon is an associate analyst. She has a Masters degree in Economics (with specialiation in Environmental and Resource Economics) and a bachelors degree in Economics from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi University. She has been working with LIFE since September 2016 and looks after projects on biodiversity, forest and wildlife clearances.
Sreeja Chakraborty is an Associate Analyst (Legal) at Pune Zonal Office of LIFE. She is a law graduate from Calcutta University and also possesses Masters degree in Law from Symbiosis International University. She is involved in environment related litigation pertaining to forest, rivers, mining before the Western Zone Bench of National Green Tribunal.
Kritika is an Associate Analyst (Science) with LIFE. She is having more than 4 years of working experience and is engaged in Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation project on air pollution policy review and research, air standards review and outreach and capacity development. Also, she works on review and assessment of upcoming developmental projects in EAC (coal and thermal) and SEAC.
Prior to LIFE, she has worked as a Senior Project Fellow with ICFRE, Dehradun working on the project of restoration and reclamation of iron mines in Karnataka and Environmental Audit of Coal India Limited.
She has done her Masters in Environment Management from Forest Research Institute, Dehradun with specialization in Climate change policy and Natural Resource Conservation and Management. Aside from her Master’s degree, Kritika also holds a B.Sc. degree in Life Sciences from the University of Delhi.
Niharika is a Associate Analyst (Communications )at LIFE. She is undergraduate in Journalism and Mass Communication and has Post Graduate degree in Development Communication from AJK MCRC, Jamia Millia Islamia. She has worked on Behavior Change Communications with BBC Media Action.
Sayantan is an Associate Analyst (Science ). Sayantan has a Post Graduation degree in Environmental Studies from Nalanda University and has an expertise in Environmental Sustainability. Previously, he has interned with the Bihar State Disaster Management Authority. He has been associated with LIFE since 2018. His area of focus is 'Empowering Citizen's Environmental Rights in West Bengal & Jharkhand'.
Subhrajit is a master's graduate in Environmental Science from Doon University, Dehradun and has done his B.Sc (Hons.) in Botany from Scottish Church College, University of Calcutta. He has been associated with Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) Bangalore for 6 months as a dissertation trainee, contributing towards the study of long-term invasion dynamics of Lantana camara in the heterogeneous landscape of Western Ghats. He has also interned with the Agricultural and Ecological Research Unit, Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata on Invasion Ecology. He has been associated with life since July 2018 . He works on various pollution-related and socio-environmental issues. He also assists in the reviewing the EIA procedure.
Gitanjali is a Trainee Analyst Analyst (Legal) with LIFE. She is engaged in Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation project on Air Pollution Policy and keeps a track on the legal developments on Air Pollution. She has done her B.A. (Hons.) History from Kamala Nehru College, University of Delhi, and obtained her LL.B from Bishop Cotton Women's Christian Law College, Bangalore affiliated to Karnataka State Law University.
She is currently working with LIFE as an Associate Analyst (Legal). She pursued her law graduation from Department of Law, University of Calcutta and topped it up with post graduation in the same discipline from the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, with specialization in corporate and commercial laws
Amar Bisht is an Accounts/ Finance Officer and done MBA in Finance from Swami Vivekanan Subharti University Meerut. He is also in-charge for the all statutory compliance related to financial matters. He handles coordination with donors, preparing a donor wise budget & preparing a utilization statement as per requirement. He prepares an annual budget and schedules expenditures. He is responsible for smooth execution of audits by Indian statutory auditors; FCRA audit and donor audit (as applicable) including timely and appropriate action on observations/recommendations.
Vikas Joshi is a Field Data Collection Staff. He holds B.com(Hons) from SCHOOL OF OPEN LEARNING(SOL) and a certified industrial accounting course from The Institute of Computer Accountants.
Om Prakash is a Field Data Collection Staff and is responsible to assising Legal Analysts in filing of cases and serving the documents to respondent.
Soban Singh Rawat is a Field data Collection staff . He graduated in arts from CSS University, Meerut. He is responsible for all the implementation of administrative rules of LIFE and official work of Managing Trustee.
